Books for younger readers continued to feature for the holiday season with ‘Bluey: The Beach (A Lift-the-Flap Book)’ coming in second with 2,189 (+247) and ‘The Beast of Buckingham Palace’ third with 2,072 sales (+1551). Many popular titles like, ‘Ottolenghi: Simple’ and Sally Rooney’s ‘Normal People’ returned to the list.
Books for younger readers featured prominently this month with ‘Bluey’ titles taking the top three; ‘Bluey: The Beach (A Lift-the-Flap Book)’ 1942; ‘Bluey: Time to Play! Sticker Activity Book’ 1552 and ‘Bluey: Fruit Bat (A Glow-in-the-Dark Book)’ with 1443 sales.
New to the list and in no.1 spot with 1,426 sales is Kitty Flanagan’s ‘488 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Idiots’.
Margaret Atwood’s, ‘The Testaments’ is a close second with 1012 (- 1329) sales while ‘Dark Emu: Aboriginal Australia and the Birth of Agriculture’ is third with 995 sales (- 54)
New to the list and in no.1 spot with 2,341 sales is the brand new novel by Margaret Atwood, ‘The Testaments’. Atwood’s sequel to ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ picks up the story 15 years after Offred stepped into the unknown, with the explosive testaments of three female narrators from Gilead.
‘Dark Emu: Aboriginal Australia and the Birth of Agriculture’ sold 1,049 copies (-425) with third position taken by ‘Boy Swallows Universe’ up from 5th spot last month with 752 sales (-171).
‘The 117-Storey Treehouse’ remained in the top spot for August with 2023 copies sold (+317). ‘Dark Emu: Aboriginal Australia and the Birth of Agriculture’ moved up 2 places with 1474 sales (+289) while third position was taken with ‘Three Women’ up from 7th spot last month with 1045 sales (+342).
‘The 117-Storey Treehouse’ is the ninth book in Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton’s wacky treehouse adventure series. This month it joined the best seller list in first place, selling 1706 copies. Also joining the list with 1479 copies sold is another one for the children, ‘The World’s Worst Teachers’ by David Walliams. Trent Dalton’s, ‘Boy Swallows Universe’ holds ground with 1213 sales (-175).
