We are teetering on the edge of pushing the R4 upgrade and are trying to resolve all the issues before we do so. There comes a point when you have to push forward and we have named May 5th/6th as the day we will upgrade (unless a show stopper presents itself before then).
March has been spent improving the migration tool to speed up and improve the process of migrating data from other systems to Circle.
Ruby on Rails 4.2 Over the past year our developers have been upgrading the framework that the Circle system is built on, from Ruby on Rails 3.2 (R3.2) to Ruby on Rails 4.2 (R4.2).
The focus in February has been on the DPS EFTPOS integration, data migration tools, and Rails 4.2 testing – which we need more of to ensure fewer problems arise when we push to prod.
The focus in January has been the Rails 4 upgrade and we are now at the point of wanting some brave, tech-savvy stores to beta test it.
The priority this month has been on speed and stability which required optimisations to POS requests and expanded servers as an insurance policy. The much requested Backorder Report that can be sent to suppliers was also delivered. We have also been pushing ahead with the Rails4 upgrade and hope to have a beta out in January.
